Meet Sheryl Reif - Physician's Assistant
Sheryl is a native Texan who was born and raised in Abilene. Her father was a rancher and one of the last independent oil men in west Texas. Upon graduation from Abilene Cooper High School, she attended and graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelors of Science degree.
After working on her Masters of Business Administration degree, she decided that the business route was not for her. She became a stay at home mom of two wonderful children before returning to school to complete prerequisites for the Physician Assistant Program. Part-time work in the Emergency Department at Medical Center of Plano gave her indoctrination to the world of emergency medicine.
Education and Training
U.T. Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas accepted Sheryl into their PA Program in 1993, and in the fall of 1995, she began practice as a PA in Family Practice. She accepted a position in orthopedics in 1997 where she has spent the remainder of her career, which includes over 10 years in spine care. As a spine patient herself, she enjoys helping her patients understand their diagnoses and treatment plans. Sheryl says it is very satisfying to assist patients, as well as her supervising physician, to improve the quality of patients’ lives.
She and her husband, Tim, are empty-nesters who live in Plano where they are active in their church, Hunters Glen Baptist. Her favorite hobbies are playing with grand kids, reading, gardening, and watching HGTV.
